The Brooks Glycerin 21 franchise features Brooks’ most cushioned midsole technology: DNA LOFT v3 foam. This nitrogen-infused foam is lightweight, soft, responsive, and durable. All the attributes that you should need for daily miles. Franchise is used as the Brooks Glycerin 21 and Glycerin GTS 21 are almost identical. They feature the same cushioning, and fit very similarly. However, the Glycerin 21 are neutral running shoes and the Glycerin GTS 21 are stability running shoes. While the Glycerin 21 still offer great support, the GTS version feature Brooks’ signature GuideRails technology. This holistic support system works with your natural biomechanics and helps keep excess motion in check - particularly in the knee and hip area. The latest Glycerin 21 franchise features more cushioning. There’s an extra 2 mm of DNA LOFT v3 foam. Making the stack height 28 mm in the heel and 18 mm in the forefoot. The outsole has also been updated with new RoadTack rubber - a lightweight and durable material. Finally, a new engineered warp knit upper is breathable and offers a flexible feel - resulting in an accommodating fit. In our experience, the Glycerin 21 feels spacious in the toe box, supportive in the midfoot, and plush around the ankle collar. Extra padding on the tongue also helps reduce lace pressure. At Run4It, we position the Brooks Glycerin 21 Franchise in our Float Experience category. This is because they deliver great protection and comfort for slower paced runs. You can definitely use these for steadier paced runs too. However, they’re likely to perform at their best when you’re trying to make the easier effort runs as comfortable as possible. This also means they should be great for longer distance runs. If you’ve previously been fitted for neutral running shoes, we recommend choosing the Glycerin 21 running shoes. However, if you’ve previously been fitted for stability running shoes, we recommend choosing the Glycerin GTS 21 running shoes. Additionally, if you’re prone to discomfort in your knees and hips, the Glycerin GTS 21 have the potential to be the better options for you too.
