Advice for Road Runners: The Salomon Women's Thundercross Trail Running Shoes offer lots of grip - meaning they're well suited to technical and muddy trails.
A Contagrip outsole with 5 mm lugs should result in better confidence on unpredictable surfaces. This is because the widely-spaced aggressive lug pattern should deliver lots of traction on loose surfaces, such as muddy and rocky trails. Additionally, the lug spacing is likely to minimise mud building up between them - ensuring grip doesn't become compromised.
As the Salomon Women's Thundercross have a substantial amount of their Energy Foam cushioning, they should offer lots of underfoot protection. As a result, transitions from softer to firmer terrain should feel relatively comfortable.
Salomon's trademark Sensifit technology features in the Thundercross Trail Running Shoes' upper. Coveted for its supportive merits, your feet should feel secure on uneven terrain.
As Salomon's Quicklace system should stay fastened, there's very little chance you'll need to adjust your laces throughout a run - even during longer distance ones. This system handily tucks away under a pocket on the tongue.
If grip is your priority, we recommend the Salomon Women's Thundercross Trail Running Shoes. That's because the outsole has been developed in the French Alps to ensure they perform on the most testing terrain.
Given the protective nature of the midsole, you should be able to cover long distances in comfort.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
