The outer mitten is a full Pertex® Shield cover. This will keep the wind and rain out, and it meets the requirements for UTMB and other ultra races.
During dry spells, remove the mitten and store it under the elastic near the top of the glove. This helps to ensure that your hands can breathe during spells of better weather.
