Advice for Road Runners: The Nike Men's Vaporfly 3 Road Racing Shoes have established themselves as very popular carbon fibre plated road running shoes.

"Eliud Kipchoge" Edition - Design Notes

Whenever someone trains with Eliud Kipchoge, they're asked to plant a tree at his base camp to signify their growth. The sockliner graphics mimic that growth with branches moving forward towards the front of the shoe. The red clay colour fade nods to the Kenyan dirt that stains the shoes when training. The font is a play on African trees that have fractal-like patterns on the surfaces.

Underfoot Feel

The details are still top secret, but the ZoomX foam in the Vaporfly 3 is designed to be better than the ZoomX foam used in previous models of Vaporfly. ZoomX foam is incredibly light, soft and returns lots of energy. Therefore, your feet feel protected, but you should experience a lot of energy return when you are running.

The full-length carbon fibre Flyplate is there to help you to run faster.

At the heel, the midsole's design includes a noticeable bulge. This is to help with stability.

The outsole is thinner in comparison to the outsole on previous models of the Vaporfly. This allows more ZoomX foam to be placed underneath your feet.

In summary, the underfoot feel should be very cushioned and highly propulsive.

Upper Fit

The Vaporfly 3's upper features soft, yet supportive Flyknit yarns. It should feel exceptionally breathable. The upper conforms to the shape of your feet.

Ideal Run Type

The Nike Men's Vaporfly 3 Road Racing Shoes are for racing distances from the 10K to the marathon. Testing and getting used to them on some faster training sessions is a good idea. However, we really recommend keeping these carbon fibre plated running shoes for race day.

Technical Features

  • Drop: 8 mm
  • Approximate weight: 200 grams (based on a U.S. men's size 10)
  • Wider toe area for a roomier fit
  • Internal foam pod at the heel for additional cushioning
  • Colour shown: Vapor Green/Black-Dragon Red

Sizing Advice

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
