Underfoot Feel

The HOKA Speedgoat 5 feels exceptionally cushioned underfoot. That's because the midsole features a thick layer of CMEVA foam. Even though the midsole is so protective, it still adapts to uneven terrain. Your feet also sit into an Active Foot Frame that supports you on rough trails. 

The assistance doesn't stop there. Expect your lower leg muscles to feel fresher as a result of the Meta-Rocker. HOKA's signature curved midsole rolls your feet forward and reduces the load on your calf muscles. This technology also makes running downhill feel easier.

Upper Fit

We know how important a good fitting trail running shoe upper is. The HOKA Speedgoat 5 trail running shoes feature a premium double-layered jacquard mesh. This should prevent rubbing and feel very breathable. Additionally, an elasticated section across the top of the toe box flexes and adjusts as you run. Meaning it works well for different foot shapes and adapts if your feet swell in longer runs. 

Ideal Run Type

We recommend the HOKA Men's Speedgoat 5 trail running shoes for technical trail runs. This is down to how grippy the outsole is. In our experience, the Speedgoat is one of the best performing trail running shoes on wet rock. 

As the grip is so durable, the Speedgoat 5 performs really well on compact surfaces. If you're running on sections of road or hard trails before or after more technical terrain, these will perform well. 

The HOKA Speedgoat 5 is more cushioned than a lot of road running shoes. This means it feels comfortable on hard ground and is a great choice for ultra distance trail runs. 

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
