The Altra Women's Olympus 5 trail running shoes deliver best in class grip on wet and dry surfaces, as a result of Vibram Megagrip. In our opinion, this outsole performs exceptionally well over an extensive range of terrain. It's also highly durable, so stands up to the demands of harsh trail surfaces.
With a thick layer of Altra EGO MAX cushioning, the Olympus 5 should feel very protective underfoot. Particularly on hard ground and over long distances.
Altra make running shoes with a FootShape Fit design. To explain further, the toe box should fit the natural shape of your feet and typically feel more spacious than standard uppers.
The Altra Olympus 5 trail running shoes feature the widest of Altra's three FootShape Fit designs - the Original FootShape Fit. Meaning it suits runners with wider feet, or those whose feet swell over the course of a run. Especially in ultra distance events.
With its protective midsole, we recommend using the Altra Women's Olympus 5 trail running shoes for slower to steady paced runs on hard packed terrain. This includes sections of tarmac.
If you're covering a lot of different surfaces, including sections of wet ground, the Olympus 5 should suit your needs. That's because the Vibram Megagrip outsole offers great traction on pretty much everything you'll come across.
However, we suggest using deeper lugged trail running shoes for steeper terrain.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
