2020 Is Time To...

France-born running brand HOKA ONE ONE recently launched their joie de vivre 'Time To' campaign, which encourages all runners – no matter their gender, age or ability – to reimagine, dream big, and go after their goals!

This got us inspired and thinking…

Most of us have experienced that 'Time To' moment of reflection at the turn-of-the-year. The point at which we pause to reflect on the past year – and look ahead and set goals for the new one.

With the new year comes new adventures, new challenges and new opportunities... and some of staff members have been kind enough to share their running goals, dreams and areas of focus for the coming year.

Read their stories and ask yourself what 'Time To' means to you?

Running goals for 2020

Woman running marathon

“In 2019, I have found myself falling into the trap of losing sight of what I want to achieve. 2020 will be the year of focusing my energy and direction to achieve my goals – starting with running! I have a tendency to get distracted (from training plans for example) but there will be no excuses this year, and I am determined this will spill into my work and personal life too. First stop… half marathon PB!”

“I always love a fitness-related challenge and enjoy diversifying my training routine using strength and endurance sessions. Having ran a couple of half marathons across the past couple of years, I'm looking to run my first full marathon, focussing my training around easier long runs, healthy conditioning and developing my speed!”

~ Douglas (Dundee Shop Sales Assistant)

Woman running through narrow streets with dog

“I turn 45 in a few months and have decided to race as part of the Masters racing series, cross country and trail both in the UK and internationally. My age doesn't define what I can achieve. Some people are like wine... they get better with age!”

~ Mandy (Bridge of Allan Shop Manager)

What does 'Time To' mean to you?

Man climbing up hills

“It took me a good few months to get going in 2019 with some inconsistent performances in races. I gained some great advice on training from hill-running legend Angela Mudge and my training subsequently became more focused and consistent. That was a turning point in what became arguably my best ever running year which ultimately earned me my first Scotland call up for hill-running. So in 2020 it is time to raise the bar.”

~ Hamish (Aberdeen Shop Sales Assistant)

“After winning races ranging from 1 mile to 50 miles in 2019, 2020 is all about testing myself to be competitive over any distance and any terrain. It’s about training to run fast over short and ultra-distances and on roads, trails and hills. Time to push the limits of how fast and how far I can go.”

~ Jason (Aberdeen Shop Assistant Manager)

“For 2020 I am looking to raise my expectations for myself; in work and in running. I'll be back running some ultra marathons throughout the year and I'd like to be more competitive and consistent. I also am looking to drive forward with the Run4It management team to bring a better experience to our customers. Raising expectations of those around me is key and looking forward to delivering in both personal and professional settings. Plenty of fun on the trails at the same time!”
